New Delhi:

Indian said on Tuesday that a UN report on terrorism confirms its long standing position that Pakistan remains the epicenter of international terrorism, saying that terrorist entities and individuals continue to benefit from safe havens in the country.

Pakistan-based terrorist groups Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba are involved in the trafficking of combatants to Afghanistan, which threatens to derail the peace process in this war-torn country, according to the report.

“This confirms India’s long standing position that Pakistan remains the epicenter of international terrorism,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava.

In response to media questions about the report, he said that terrorist entities continue to benefit from shelters and operate with impunity from Pakistan with state support.

“They inflict violence and spread terrorism in the region and in other parts of the world. Pakistan has failed to fulfill its international obligations, in particular under the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Task Force financial, to end support for terrorism, “he said. .

Anurag Srivastava said that the international community should hold Pakistan accountable and seek sustained, verifiable and irreversible action against terrorism.

The 25th report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team concerning ISIS (Daesh), Al Qaeda and associated persons and entities, has been submitted to the United Nations Security Council.

“We note with grave concern the reference in the report to the continued presence of senior officials of the United Nations-designated terrorist organization Al-Qaeda and its affiliates in Afghanistan as well as a large number of foreign terrorist fighters , including up to 6,500 Pakistani nationals operating in Afghanistan, “said Srivastava.
