Jammu:
Three heavily armed Pakistani terrorists were killed as the army scuttled a major infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera area of Jammu and the Rajouri district of Kashmir, officials said on Monday.
Pakistani terrorists made a failed attempt to sneak into the Kalows region of Nowshera from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 28, but were killed in the ensuing counter-infiltration operation, said the officials.
They said that the bodies of the three terrorists had been found by the search parties on Monday morning, but that they could not be found due to the proximity of enemy posts and the persistent threat of gunfire during any recovery attempt.
However, a large amount of weapons and ammunition, including two AK assault rifles with 13 magazines loaded, an American-made M-16A2 rifle with six magazines loaded, a 9 mm Chinese pistol, an Under grenade launcher Barrel (UBGL) with six of the grenades, five hand grenades and two knives, were recovered during the operation, officials said.
In addition, they said, a large quantity of food, medicine and 17,000 rupees in Indian currency was recovered from backpacks which were found abandoned by terrorists while trying to flee in the face of Indian army heavy fire.
The area is still under domination and operations are underway, officials said.
