Chandigarh:

Now is the time for the center to take tough action because each sign of weakness makes China’s reaction more “belligerent,” Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh said on Tuesday.

“Our soldiers are not being honest with the idea that every few days officers and men will be killed or injured while defending our borders,” he said.

An army officer was among 20 soldiers killed in the line of duty in a violent confrontation with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Monday.

“It is now time for India to resist these repeated incursions which constitute a blatant violation of our territorial rights and to put an end to such attacks on our territorial integrity,” the Prime Minister said in a statement.

Expressing his shock and anger, Singh said in a tweet, “The events in the Galwan Valley are a continuation of the violations by China. Now is the time for the country to resist these incursions.”

Now is the time for the Indian government to take “tough” measures, he said.

The chief minister said that every sign of weakness on the part of India makes the Chinese reaction more belligerent.

It is important to defuse tensions at the border and India is not in favor of the war, but the country cannot afford to be weak at the moment and must take a firm position to deter the Chinese brand new intrusion and attack on Indian territories and men, said Singh.

Even after brutally beating the commander of the Indian army and two soldiers to death, Beijing pretends to be innocent and tries to blame India, accusing him of causing conflict by “ unilateral action ”, said the Prime Minister.

Such a reaction on the part of China is typical of its duplicity, he said, adding that the escalation of tensions in the Ladakh sector on the Indochinese border was the direct consequence of the incursions of Chinese troops into Indian territory. .
