The United States Department of Transportation said it had revoked authorization from Pakistan International Airlines.

The US Department of Transportation said it had revoked authorization for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to operate charter flights to the United States, citing concerns from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding pilot certifications Pakistani.

The information is contained in a special authorization revocation dated July 1 issued by the ministry to Reuters on Friday.

Last month, Pakistan failed nearly a third of its pilots after discovering that they may have falsified their qualifications.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has suspended PIA’s clearance to travel to the block for six months, which has severely affected the operations of the carrier.

The PIA was not immediately available for comment outside normal office hours.

Geo News of Pakistan reported that PIA had confirmed the US ban and said it would respond to the concerns with ongoing corrective actions within the airline.

Pakistan failed pilots with questionable qualifications after a PIA plane crash in May that killed 97 people.
