Patna:

In a scathing attack on the RJD opposition in Bihar, Bihar, Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Saturday that “the wealth gained through the fodder scam” will not find any takers among the people who are respect.

The BJP leader, who spoke at her first gatherings in the state, also referred to the image of Laxmi, the goddess of wealth, and noted that people knew “that she comes with the lotus and not the lantern ”, an obvious allusion to the interrogation symbols of the BJP and the RJD respectively.

“When the self-respecting people of Bihar pray to the goddess Bhagwati, they seek the strength to earn their living through hard work. They are not looking for a share of the wealth gained from chaara ghotala, ”Ms. Irani said, in an apparent reference to RJD. Chief Lalu Prasad, who is in Ranchi, is serving time in fodder fraud cases.

Mr Prasad’s youngest son and alleged heir, Tejashwi Yadav, who has been nominated by the opposition Grand Alliance as its top ministerial candidate, tried to woo voters with his pledge of 10 lakh permanent government jobs if the party came along in power.

The NDA in power in the state, which fights against the power in place as well as against the rebellion of the LJP led by Chirag Paswan, which has sworn to remove the head of the JDU Nitish Kumar from power, has done everything to thwart the opposition attempts to cash in on the situation.

“The people of Bihar know well enough that Laxmi, the goddess of wealth, does not come to hold the hand of Congress,” Ms. Irani said.
