The number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai reached 47,128 on Saturday (File)

Mumbai:

Maharashtra reported 2,739 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the number of people infected with the virus to 82,968.

While Maharashtra continues to remain the most affected COVID-19 state in the country, it is gradually approaching the exceeding of the Chinese count of more than 83,000 cases.

With the state witnessing 120 deaths today, the total number of deaths is now 2,969.

According to the health department bulletin, 2,234 people were released on Saturday after being recovered from COVID-19. So far, 37,390 people have left the hospital. Currently, there are 42,600 active cases in the state.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai reached 47,128 on Saturday after 1,274 new cases detected in the past 24 hours, the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation said. With 57 new deaths, the total number of deaths in the city is 1,575.

Meanwhile, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said on Saturday that Asia’s largest slum, Dharavi, had seen 10 other cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases in the region is 1,899, while 71 have died from the virus in the region so far.
