Russian agencies said it was a Mi-8 helicopter that was on a test flight.

Moscow:

A military helicopter crashed Tuesday at an airport in Russia’s remote Chukotka region, killing the four people on board, the governor said.

The helicopter of the Russian Defense Ministry fell at the main Chukotka airport near Anadyr, which has mixed military and civilian use.

“There were three crew members and a technician on board. All four died,” wrote Governor Roman Kopin on his Instagram account.

Russian agencies said it was a Mi-8 helicopter that was on a test flight after undergoing technical maintenance.

“The reason for the accident could be a technical fault with the helicopter,” said TASS news agency quoting a statement from the Defense Ministry.

Military investigators have been dispatched to the crash site, the statement said.
