The Jhansi District Administration in Uttar Pradesh has ordered firefighters to keep their vehicles ready with chemicals following a sudden movement of a swarm of locusts. The Desert Locust is a pest that destroys crops and vegetation.

District magistrate Andra Vamsi, who chaired a meeting in this regard, said: “The villagers as well as the general public have been informed to inform the control room of the movement. The locusts will go to places where there are green grass or greenery. Therefore, details of movement in such places should be shared. “

Deputy Director of Agriculture Kamal Katiyar said the locust swarm, which is moving, is small. “We have learned that almost 2.5 to 3 kilometers of locust clouds have entered the country. A team has come from Kota (Rajasthan) to control locusts.”

Currently, the Desert Locust swarm is found at Bangra Magarpur in Jhansi.

“The spraying of insecticides will be done overnight,” said Katiyar.
