Video of the flooded coronavirus installation went viral on social networks

Surah:

The basement of a Gujarat Surah civic hospital, which was converted to a COVID-19 facility, was flooded after water from an underground tank overflowed, an official said on Sunday. The facility had 65 patients when the incident took place late Saturday night, he said, adding that the problem was resolved soon after.

However, the videos of the flooded facility went viral on social networks.

The Deputy Commissioner (Health) of the Surat Municipal Corporation, Dr. Ashish Naik, confirmed that there were 65 patients with coronavirus in the establishment located in the multi-level parking lot of the SMIMER hospital.

“The water in an underground tank overflowed and flooded the basement briefly. The water was drained and the problem was resolved in half an hour,” said Dr. Naik.

Meanwhile, Congress president Amit Chavda shared the video and attacked the Vijay Rupani government over what he called “the false Gujarat model”.

Chavda also questioned state health minister Nitin Patel about preparations to contain the epidemic.

“See the state of the ward for # Covid_19 patients in the # Surj Municipal hospital led by # BJP at @ narendramodi #Fake_Gujarat_model. @Vijayrupanibjp @Nitinbhai_Patel please, was this your preparation for defeat # Covid_19? ” he tweeted in Hindi with a 30-second video.

Surat recently saw an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, with the district reporting its highest tally of 184 days on Saturday, including 174 within the civic boundaries of Surat.
