Karnataka High Court refused bail for Kannada film actor Ragini Dwivedi

Bengaluru:

The Karnataka High Court today refused to grant bail to Kannada Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani film actors in the drug case.

Judge Sreenivas Harish Kumar also denied the bail application of four other people, including the request for bail from film producer Shivaprakash, in the case.

The Central Directorate of Crime started investigating the arrested drug case Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani in September.

Shivaprakash is still missing, police said.

The two actors and drug supplier Prashant Ranka were in the custody of the Central Crime Branch until September 13 and were subsequently sent into judicial custody on September 14. Prashant Ranka was also denied bail.

They have since been held in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bangalore.

Bengaluru Police have stepped up their investigation into drug abuse among celebrities after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people, including Malayalam TV serial actor Anikha and Bineesh Kodiyeri assistant Mohammed Anoop with synthetic drugs.

The three have been accused of supplying drugs to celebrities in Bengaluru, including film actors and singers from Kannada.

One of the high-level defendants is Aditya Alva, son of the late former minister Jeevaraj Alva.

The Central Crime Branch investigating the case even raided the Mumbai residence of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who had married Aditya Alva’s sister, while searching for him.
