India received initial shipment of extreme cold weather clothing from the United States (Representation)

New Delhi:

In order to significantly enhance India’s readiness to face the Chinese on the Real Line of Control (LAC), the Indian Army received the initial shipment of extreme cold weather clothing from the United States for its troops deployed to the Chinese border.

“A first batch of extreme cold weather clothing from the US Defense Force has been received and is being used by our troops there,” government sources told ANI.

The sources said the Indian military is maintaining a stockpile of 60,000 of these extremely cold weather clothing sets for troops deployed throughout Ladakh, including the western fronts in Siachen and the eastern sector of Ladakh.

This year, there was an additional need for around 30,000 of these sets as nearly 90,000 troops are deployed in the region due to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aggression along the LAC.

The emergency procurement of extreme cold weather clothing will help Indian Army troops weather the harsh winters in the Ladakh area.

The Indian side has deployed two additional divisions to the LAC which were brought into the area from the plains and a mountain division which has been training for high altitude operations for many years now.

India receives a lot of equipment from America, including a number of assault rifles for special forces as well as SiGSauer assault rifles for infantry troops.
