Security forces and terrorists meet in Srinagar’s Zadibal neighborhood, police said. Three terrorists are currently locked in a house in the neighborhood, police said, adding that the terrorists had refused to surrender.

Two of the terrorists have been active since 2019, they said. “One of them was involved in the attack on two BSF jawans last month,” said officials.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the region this morning following specific intelligence inputs. The terrorists fired on the search group, which led to a shooting.

The ANI news agency, quoting a senior police official, said that the security forces had even called the relatives of the terrorists to ask them to surrender. “Three terrorists are trapped in a house. Thanks to our sources, we will know their identity and called their parents who asked them to surrender. But they did not give in. The shooting is underway,” said l Inspector General of the Kashmir Police, Vijay Kumar. , was quoted by ANI.

Authorities have suspended mobile internet services in the city as a precaution, said a police official.

Restrictions on the movement of people have also been imposed in most areas of the city’s downtown core, he added.
