Solar eclipse 2020: the eclipsed sun should not be seen with the naked eye to avoid damage

New Delhi:

People across India started posting photos of the solar eclipse on social media this morning after the planetary event became visible from their cities. Residents of parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand saw the spectacular “ring of fire” in the sky – the first solar eclipse of 2020. Residents of other parts of India were able to see an eclipse partial solar, also known as Surya Grahan.

The Zomato food delivery app was among the first to tweet: “Do you all eat between 10 p.m. and 2 p.m. today? I confirm.”

Several temples have been closed in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.

Many tweeted memes shedding light on those who ate in the morning before the solar eclipse were seen from their cities.

A solar eclipse always occurs about two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse.

The first solar eclipse of this year coincides with the summer solstice, when the northern hemisphere has the longest day. The eclipse will also be visible from the Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan and China.

A solar eclipse occurs on a new moon day when the moon is between the Earth and the sun, and the moon casts a shadow on the Earth.

This is the second eclipse of this season.

The eclipsed sun should not be seen with the naked eye, even for a short time. This can cause permanent eye damage.
