Paddy buying started in Punjab with over two thousand new “ mandis ”

Ludhiana (Punjab):

Paddy buying has started in Punjab with more than two thousand new ‘mandis’ created to ensure COVID-19 protocols are maintained, Food and Supply Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu said on Sunday.

“Previously, we planned to start the purchase from October 1, but the government of Punjab decided to launch it themselves today. We made all the necessary arrangements including arranging CCL (cash credit limit) and jute bags. increased to over 4,019 from 1,800 to ensure that COVID-19 protocols are maintained, ”Ashu told ANI.

The Minister said that the decision to increase the number of “mandis” was taken bearing in mind the success of the same measures implemented when purchasing wheat.

He also said that currently, farmers have started coming to “mandis” in six to seven districts of the state.

“There has been a bumper harvest this season, according to the agriculture ministry. Purchasing will continue until November 30 so that no one has to face any hassle,” Ashu said.
