Bhopal:
The government of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday sanctioned Rs 781 crore for an expressway through Chambal, a region which, with Gwalior, represents 16 of the 24 seats for which diversions are necessary.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the sanction of the money for the project during a virtual meeting with the Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, a deputy public relations officer told PTI.
The virtual meeting also brought together the Minister of the Union for Rural Development, Narendra Singh Tomar, and BJP member Rajya Sabha, Jyotiraditya Scindia, he added.
“The proposed highway will be 309 kilometers in MP and will be a connector for Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh,” said Mr. Chouhan.
By the way, the money was sanctioned two days after the firm’s expansion into the state in which 10 executives from Chambal and Gwalior obtained places.
The region now has 11 ministers, including the powerful leader of the BJP, Narottam Mishra.
“Thus, 11 deputy ministers will come from the regions of Gwalior and Chambal,” said political scientist Keshav Pandey.
Twenty-two members of Congress, including 16 from Gwalior-Chambal, resigned from the Assembly in March, removing Kamal Nath’s exemption and paving the way for Mr. Chouhan to become CM for the fourth time.
Two seats are vacant due to the deaths of legislators.
