A 35-year-old woman reportedly killed her cousin today, suspecting that she was having an affair with her husband in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.
The incident occurred in the village of Padhkar, 45 km from the district headquarters.
The accused was identified as Roshani Kewat.
The woman suspected that her cousin Lalita Kewat, 30, who lived nearby, was having an affair with her husband, said Inspector Mahendra Singh Chauhan from the Budhar Police Station.
“Roshani lost her temper when she saw Lalita talking on the cell phone. She thought Lalita was talking to her husband. She picked up an ax nearby and hit Lalita in the neck three times, killing her instantly “said the official.
“We arrested Roshani for murder,” said Chauhan.
