The United States recorded 1,225 deaths from coronavirus on Friday, bringing its total to 102,798 since the start of the global pandemic, according to a count by Johns Hopkins University.
The country has officially registered 1,745,606 global virus cases, far more than any other country, the University of Baltimore tracker showed at 8:30 p.m. (00:30 GMT Saturday).
The latest numbers came when President Donald Trump said he was severing U.S. ties to the World Health Organization, accusing him of not doing enough to curb the initial spread of the new coronavirus and d be too forgiving with China, where the epidemic started last year.
