Coronavirus Live Update: India has reported 7,466 new cases of new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health on Friday morning. It is the first time that more than 7,000 cases of COVID-19 have been detected in 24 hours and follows seven consecutive days with more than 6,000 new cases per day.

The number of deaths in the past 24 hours is 175. The total number of COVID-19 cases is now 1,65,799, the total number of deaths is 4,706 and the number of people who have recovered are 71 106.

On Thursday evening, the country crossed 1.6 lakh of coronavirus cases, making it the ninth most affected country in the world. The outbreak occurs with just two days at the end of the fourth phase of foreclosure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Interior Minister Amit Shah and senior officials on Friday to discuss the way ahead as the three-fold coronavirus lockout ends Sunday. A decision is likely today on whether to extend the restrictions amidst the steady increase in virus cases, given the need to reopen economic activity.

The Interior Ministry was responsible for analyzing contributions from various sectors and states.

Some states have already extended the virus lockdown and “there’s nothing stopping them from taking further action on their own,” sources said.

Here are live updates on the coronavirus outbreak:

The United States has 1,225 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours, according to Johns Hopkins, the AFP news agency reported.

The number of deaths in Brazil due to a coronavirus reaches 27,878, reported the AFP news agency.
