The ongoing heat wave over parts of northern and central India is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, the Indian meteorological department announced on Wednesday, as the southwest monsoon made further progress in parts of the Bay of Bengal.

Regarding the progress of the southwest monsoon, the IMD National Weather Forecast Center said that it had further advanced in parts of southern Bay of Bengal, most parts of the Andaman Sea and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

“Conditions are becoming favorable for a further progression of the southwest monsoon in parts of the Maldives-Comoros region and the neighboring Southeast Sea, remaining parts of the Andaman Sea and other parts south and central Bay of Bengal over the next 48 hours, “he added.
