Congress president Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday attacked the BJP-led NDA government over the repeated rise in fuel prices, saying it had become clear that the Center was only picking pockets of people, even in times of crisis.
His attack came after the price of diesel in the nation’s capital crossed the 80 rupee per liter mark for the first time on Thursday, as oil companies raised prices for the 19th day, bringing the cumulative rate to 10, 63 rupees per liter.
The price of oil, after a one day break, has been increased by 16 points and the increase in less than three weeks now reaches Rs 8.66 per liter.
“By raising the prices of gasoline and diesel for the 19th consecutive day today, the BJP government has made it clear that it is more interested in picking pockets from the public even in times of crisis,” said Priyanka Gandhi in a tweet. .
“Congress organized a massive demonstration in Uttar Pradesh. People are not ready to tolerate this loot,” tweeted the secretary general of Congress responsible for eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The price of gasoline in Delhi has increased to Rs 79.92 per liter from Rs 79.76, while diesel prices have been increased to Rs 80.02 per liter from Rs 79.88, according to price notification from Crown oil marketing companies.
