Coronavirus: Supporters gathered to greet Tamil Nadu Minister Sellur Raju, who has recovered from COVID-19.

In blatant violation of coronavirus safety standards, large numbers of ruling AIADMK workers – many without masks – gathered in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to greet a minister who had returned from hospital after s ” be recovered from COVID-19.
Physical distance, key to containing the spread of the coronavirus, was ignored as supporters argued for a glimpse of Cooperation Minister Sellur Raju, headquartered in Madurai West.
Police officers and party officials accompanying the minister had to prevent supporters from getting too close to Mr. Raju. The crowd even disrupted traffic and burst crackers on the road when the minister’s procession arrived.
The visuals are particularly disturbing as Madurai sees an increase in the number of coronavirus cases and has become a hotspot.
Earlier, wishing Mr. Raju a speedy recovery, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam called on the population to be cautious and cautious in carrying out their duty.
Mr Raju had tested positive for the coronavirus on July 10. He was the third minister to contract coronavirus disease in the government led by EK Palaniswami.
