Sushant Singh Rajput’s family accused Rhea Chakraborty of incitement to suicide

Bombay:

The investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput will follow the trail of money, said Bihar police, who are conducting a parallel investigation. The actor’s family had filed a complaint against his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

Mr Rajput set up two companies with Ms Chakraborty and her brother as directors, police said. The registered addresses of the two companies are an apartment in the Ulwe town of Raigad in Maharashtra, owned by Ms Chakraborty’s father, investigators said.

Bihar police are checking how the money transferred from the actor’s account has been used. A police team visited several banks and examined the transactions and investments of the companies.

The investigation focuses on whether the investments made by the actor and his girlfriend were clean.

Rs 15 crore “suspicious transactions” are also placed under the control of the Enforcement Directorate, which is investigating financial crimes, sources said. The agency asked for details of the police case filed by the actor’s father in Bihar.

Mumbai Police conduct a detailed investigation into other angles such as professional rivalry and unfair treatment, leading the actor to be sidelined. They also looked at his finances.

The government of Bihar has decided to support the bereaved family in court. The state government has said it will file a warning with the Supreme Court, blocking Ms Chakraborty’s efforts to transfer the case against her to Mumbai. Mr Rajput’s father has already asked the Supreme Court to hear him before ruling on Ms Chakraborty’s request to transfer the case from Patna to Mumbai.

Mumbai police sources, however, told GalacticGaming that the family made no mention of their suspicions or allegations when they first met senior officers in Mumbai after the actor’s death. The family also did not allege anything in the written statements, the sources said.

Ms Chakraborty told the Supreme Court that she had lived with her boyfriend for a year and moved on June 8 – just six days before the 34-year-old man was found dead in his Mumbai home.

In the petition requesting the transfer of the case against her from Patna to Mumbai – a copy of which is at GalacticGaming – Ms Chakraborty said that she and the actor were in a residential relationship for a year until June 8, after which she had temporarily transferred to her residence. The actor, Ms Chakraborty said in her petition, suffered from depression.
