The Rajasthan State Election Commission announced on Saturday the election of the six municipal corporations of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota.

According to the spokesperson for the Electoral Commission, the vote for the district councilor of these corporations will take place in two phases.

Public notification of the election will be released on October 14. In the first phase, on October 29, voting will take place for Jaipur Heritage, Jodhpur North and Kota North Municipal Corporation while the municipal corporations of Jaipur Greater, Jodhpur South and Kota South will go to the November 1 polls.

There are 35.97 lakh eligible voters in the six municipal corporations, of which over 18.76 lakh are men and 17.21 lakh are women. The counting of the votes will take place on November 3, the spokesperson said.

The timetable for the election of the mayor of the company will be released on November 4. The vote will take place on November 10 and the count will take place on the same day, he said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the Rajasthan State Election Commission to announce the voting schedule for the corporate elections within a week. The court said if the state government needed more time to hold elections, it could go to the High Court for redress.
