Saroj Khan’s final rites will take place in Malvani in Malad, Mumbai, the ANI news agency reported.

Seasoned choreographer Saroj Khan died this morning in Mumbai after suffering cardiac arrest. She was 71 years old.

The triple recipient of a national award had been treated at Guru Nanak Hospital since June 20 after complaining of respiratory problems. The compulsory Covid-19 test performed in the hospital gave a negative result.

“She died due to a cardiac arrest around 2:30 am in the hospital,” Saroj Khan’s nephew Manish Jagwani told PTI news agency.

Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar remembered her as a genius choreographer who entertained everything with her iconic work.

“Saroj Khan was a genius choreographer, who impressed and entertained all of his iconic work. Shocked to know his passing. A great loss for the film industry. Condolences to his family, friends and fans. Om Shanti”, said tweeted Mr. Javadekar.

The Minister of the Interior of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh, was one of the first politicians to offer his condolences to the famous choreographer.

“My sincere tribute to Saroj Khan, the renowned choreographer who wrote more than 2,000 evergreen songs. I share the sorrow of his family, his colleagues in the world of cinema and all the fans,” he said. he tweeted.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh in his message of condolence said that the institutionalized choreography of Saroj Khan in Indian cinema.

In a career spanning over four decades, Khan has been credited with choreography over 2,000 songs, including “Dola Re Dola” from “Devdas” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Ek Do Teen” by Madhuri Dixit-starrer “Tezaab” and “Ye Ishq Haaye” from “Jab We Met” in 2007.

She last choreographed “Tabaah Hogaye”, with Madhuri from the production of filmmaker Karan Johar “Kalank” in 2019.
