Jhargram:

A rare species chameleon was found at a house in Jhargram district, West Bengal on Saturday, forestry department officials said.

The reptile, which was spotted in the home of a schoolteacher in Sankrail village, was seen changing color frequently, they said.

The school teacher, Jhareswar Pradhan, spotted the chameleon on the wall of his house and informed the neighbors.

While they were busy grabbing the animal without injuring it, Forestry Department personnel arrived and took it away, residents said.

The department was in the process of determining which of 202 species of the distinctive Old World class of lizards the chameleon belonged to, officials said.
