Chandigarh:
On Monday, Adampur’s deputy in Haryana, Kuldeep Bishnoi, urged congressional leadership to do everything possible to persuade Rajasthan’s deputy chief minister, Sachin Pilot, saying that leaving the party would be a serious blow to him.
The Congress of Rajasthan attends a power feud between Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot, upset since he was refused the post of Prime Minister after the elections of December 2018.
The current crisis began on Friday evening when Rajasthani police sent a notice to Pilot asking him to record his statement on an alleged attempt to overthrow the government.
The same notice was sent to the chief minister and other members, but proponents of Mr. Pilot said it was only to humiliate him.
Commenting on the matter, Bishnoi, 51, the youngest son of former chief minister Haryana Bhajan Lal, also insisted on promoting young faces with a “mass base” to strengthen the party.
Earlier, Bishnoi described Jyotiraditya Scindia’s exit from the party in March as a big blow and said that many dedicated leaders across the country felt “alienated, wasted and dissatisfied”.
“My call to the Congressional High Command is that the way Jyotiraditya Scindia left the party, it caused him great loss. Now we hear such rumors about Sachin Pilot. If these are rumors, then there is is no problem, but if it’s true, then Congress should do anything to persuade him, “said Mr. Bishnoi in a video message posted to his Twitter account.
“Sachin is a great leader. If he leaves, it will be a severe blow to our party like the exit from Scindia,” added Mr. Bishnoi.
He said that leaders with a mass base who understand today’s politics should be given positions of responsibility like that of the secretary general and heads of state units.
Only then will people’s confidence in Congress increase, he said.
However, Mr. Bishnoi in his video message called on congressional leaders not to feel disappointed while recounting the party’s contribution to the struggle for freedom and the development of the country.
“People’s confidence in Congress is increasing day by day and the country also needs a congressional government because every time party-led governments are formed, the country progresses,” he said. .
Addressing Congress leaders as “colleagues,” he said, “So you don’t have to feel disappointed. We all need to bring Congress back to power.”
“Congress is a strong party. My colleagues and I will do our utmost to ensure that he comes to power, whether at national or state level,” he said.
