Jaipur:
The railways have decided to provide isolation buses to Delhi amid an increase in the spread of coronavirus infections in the nation’s capital, officials said on Monday.
North Western Railway (NWR), headquartered in Jaipur, will send 150 of these buses to Delhi on instructions from the Railways, officials said.
According to PRO Leader (NWR) Abhay Sharma, NWR has converted 266 coaches to isolation coaches, keeping in mind the peak of coronavirus cases in its various divisions, in accordance with Council instructions.
The Railway Authority took the initiative on the recommendation of the Delhi government, said the spokesman for the NWR.
“Among them, the Ajmer division has converted 85 coaches, the coaches of the Jodhpur division 83, the coaches of the Bikaner 50 division and the coaches of the Jaipur division 48 into single coaches,” he said.
Aside from the first batch of 150 coaches who are dispatched to Delhi, the remaining coaches will be dispatched in accordance with requirements in the future.
The railway official also said that the main changes to regular buses included removing the berths, redesigning the toilets, installing transparent curtains for separation and installing the necessary accessories for the equipment and medical devices, in addition to providing other important facilities.
In addition to this, roof insulation has also been provided in these cars to reduce the heat in cars to be deployed in high temperature areas. This includes applying special heat resistant paint to roofs or installing awnings.
In the meantime, the NWR has deployed 12 special train services to different destinations to provide public relief.
