Patna:
Putting the ‘Narendra Modi factor’ at the forefront of the election campaign, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today devoted his speech at a BJP rally in Patna to the development work undertaken by the Prime Minister of Bihar and said Narendra Modi would make a “developed” indication if the ruling NDA is returned to power.
Praising Prime Minister Modi, Kumar spoke of a host of plans to claim that the people of Bihar can never forget what he has done for the state.
“Hearing his call (from Narendra Modi), if you give the NDA one more chance to work in the state, then you are sure that it will turn it into a developed state. Bihar will move forward.” , did he declare.
Locked in a bitter electoral battle with the RJD-led opposition amid anti-outgoing perception against Nitish Kumar’s nearly 15-year tenure as chief minister, the National Democratic Alliance is betting heavily on the “ Narendra Modi factor ” to help her win.
In the state capital and several other locations, BJP posters bearing photographs of the Prime Minister and his symbol, including that of the allies, have been prominently displayed, assuring voters that he will bring them jobs – a central theme in Bihar assembly polls – and other developments in the same way it brought them roads and electricity.
In his speech, Nitish Kumar spoke about the Patna metro project, the smart cities plan and the Ujjwala program, among other measures to praise Prime Minister Modi.
“He has done so much to build roads and bridges in the state,” the chief minister said in his brief speech.
Nitish Kumar also congratulated PM Modi for his initiatives in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Referring to the free rationing scheme for the more than 80 crore poor in the country between April and November, the Chief Minister said: “It is not a small thing”.
The NDA screened Nitish Kumar as its top ministerial candidate.
Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, the main ministerial face of his alliance, launched an aggressive campaign around the theme of ‘unemployment and corruption’ in the NDA government in the state and protected himself as a harbinger of hope and change.
The NDA, on the other hand, raised the issue of the “bad 15-year regime” during the previous RJD regime from 1990 to 2005.
