Dharmendra Pradhan accused BJD leaders of being “insensitive” to people’s plight.

Criticizing Odisha’s government for ‘failing’ to deal with COVID-19 situation in state, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday accused ruling BJD leaders of being ‘insensitive’ to fate people during the pandemic.

He also alleged that the state government could not provide relief to those in distress, although the Center extended its support to the dispensation of Naveen Patnaik.

“Although the Center has provided over Rs 708 crore for Jagatsinghpur district, the state government has been unable to provide relief to those in distress. BJD leaders are oblivious to the plight of people during the pandemic COVID-19, “Pradhan said at an upcoming rally. November 3 by-elections to two assembly segments in the state.

The senior BJP leader also claimed that “mismanagement was visible” statewide during the COVID-19 crisis.

Mr Pradhan also criticized the BJD over the bullying of the “dead processor” of Madan Mohan Dutta, MP for Balasore Sadar.

“The ruling party leaders are arrogant and ignore the concerns of the people. Instead of respecting a deceased person, the BJD leaders have dishonored him,” he said.

A BJD leader recently courted the controversy by describing the late BJP deputy Balasore Sadar as a “late transformer”.

Mr. Pradhan highlighted the contribution of the Pradip Development Center, which falls under the Jagatsinghpur district.

“The Center has invested Rs 57,767.43 crore for various projects in Jagatsinghpur district,” he said, adding that such initiatives would create employment opportunities for the local population.

Mr Pradhan also alleged that the BJD government has failed to provide jobs for young people, for whom many have migrated to other states.

The Center provided more than Rs 22,267 crore to Odisha to help people during the COVID-19 situation, but the “state government was unable to detain migrant workers who had returned from other regions of the country “during the lockdown.
