Coronavirus: Haryana said she would make arrangements to bring holy water from the Ganges

Chandigarh:

The Haryana government will make arrangements to bring water from the Ganga River from Haridwar to Maha Shivratri State during the month of Shravan this year. However, the state government has decided not to allow kanwariyas to prosecute kanwar yatras this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Senior police officers and division commissioners in Panchkula, Faridabad and Gurugram have been ordered not to allow kanwariyas to travel.

The official said Haryana made the decision after the governments of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh said they were unable to make arrangements for the transit and stay of the kanwariyas.

An official said that the state government had ordered all deputy commissioners and chiefs of police to speak immediately to kanwariya samitis and other groups in their districts to ensure that order was strictly followed.
