The low over west-central Bay of Bengal is very likely to intensify further into a deep low over the next 24 hours and is very likely to move west-northwest and cross through the north coast of Andhra Pradesh between Narsapur and Visakhapatnam on the evening of October 12, according to the Cyclone Warning Division of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

“The latest satellite images, observations from ships and buoys indicate that yesterday’s well-marked area of ​​low over the adjacent central-eastern and southeastern Bay of Bengal has been concentrated in a low over the center-west of the Bay of Bengal and was centered about 430 km south-southeast Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 490 km southeast of Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh) and 520 km east-south -is of Narsapur (Andhra Pradesh), ”IMD said.

It is very likely that it will intensify further into a deep depression over the next 24 hours. “It is very likely that it will move west-northwest and cross the north coast of Andhra Pradesh between Narsapur and Vishakhapatnam during the night of October 12, 2020,” he added.

The meteorological agency issued a rain warning for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Marathwada, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. He predicted light to moderate precipitation in most places on the coast of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Marathwada, southern Odisha and southern Chhattisgarh with heavy falls at very strong in isolated places on the coast of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and the interior of Karnataka today.

Light to moderate rains are likely to occur over coastal Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Marathwada and Vidarbha with heavy to very heavy rains in isolated places on coastal Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Marathwada and Vidarbha on October 12 and October 13.

Extremely heavy rains are also likely in isolated places on the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh on the same date.

Wind speeds gusting up to 45 to 55 km / h gusting to 65 km / h would prevail over the central west and contiguous to the northwest of the Bay of Bengal and 40 to 50 km / h gusting to 60 km / h h over the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha- Andhra Pradesh -Tamil Nadu and the coasts of Pondicherry today.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea in the coastal areas of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and in the Gulf of Mannar.
