Srinagar:
The leaders of the People’s Alliance of Jammu and Kashmir attacked and ridiculed Union Home Secretary Amit Shah for his allegation that they were involved in “foreign forces intervening” in the repeal of section 370 and to bring back “terror and agitation”. Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti – rivals who have come together to fight for the restoration of special status – have suggested that the minister is upset by the prospect of competition with local powers in the elections.
Ms Mufti tweeted that making such allegations was inappropriate for the BJP. “Irony has died a million deaths since his BJP himself which violates the constitution day after day,” read his tweet.
“I can understand the frustration behind this attack by the Honorable Home Secretary. He had been informed that the People’s Alliance was preparing to boycott the elections. This would have allowed the BJP and the newly formed King’s Party to run. freely to J&K. do not oblige them, ”tweeted former chief minister Omar Abdullah.
I can understand the frustration behind this attack by the Honorable Minister of the Interior. He had been informed that the Popular Alliance was preparing to boycott the elections. This would have allowed the BJP and the newly formed King’s Party to freely venture into J&K. We didn’t oblige them. https://t.co/OrLBPAIFVn

“It is only at J&K that leaders can be detained and labeled as anti-nationals for participating in the elections and supporting the democratic process. The truth is that all those who oppose the ideology of the BJP are labeled “corrupt and anti-national,” “another of his tweets read.
Ms. Mufti agrees. “Fighting elections in an alliance is also anti-national now. The BJP can forge so many alliances in its thirst for power but somehow we are undermining the national interest by building a united front. “, we read in another of his three tweets.
Accusing the BJP of using “an outdated tactic of dividing India”, she said: “Love jihad, tukde tukde & now Gupkar Gang dominates political discourse instead of as unemployment and inflation rise” .
Over the years, Mehbooba Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party and the National Conference have maintained a firm grip on the Kashmir Valley. The BJP only had a strong presence in Jammu.
Elections have not been held in Jammu and Kashmir since the BJP ended its alliance with Ms. Mufti’s PDP in June 2018, causing great upheaval among political parties in the state.
The elections were expected to take place along with last year’s general election, but the Election Commission refused, citing public order issues in the state, which was under the governor’s reign.
In August, the Center abolished the special state status granted by the Constitution and divided it into two Union territories. As part of one of the preventive measures taken to end the backlash, hundreds of Jammu and Kashmir’s political leaders have been detained.
Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah were released before the lockdown. Mehbooba Mufti was released last month.
The “Popular Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration” was later formed to fight for the restoration of Article 370 and a resolution in Kashmir. The alliance has now decided to contest the elections.
Earlier today, Union Minister Amit Shah attacked Jammu and Kashmir’s political parties and Congress.
“Congress and the Gupkar Gang want to bring J&K back to the era of terror and turmoil. They want to take away the rights of Dalits, women and tribes that we guaranteed by removing section 370. That’s why they are being rejected by people everywhere, ”one reads in his tweet.
