New Delhi:

The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) announced Sunday, after a meeting here in New Delhi, its decision to go solo in the assembly election in Bihar.

“Let me take the moment,” said Chirag Paswan, the party’s national chairman responding to a question about the connection between the LJP and the BJP.

Flashing a sign of victory after a meeting of the party’s central parliamentary council at his residence in Delhi, he said: “I will not speak again but we will win the battle”.

“The Lok Janshakti party will not contest the upcoming elections in Bihar in alliance with Janata Dal (United) due to ideological differences,” said Abdul Khaliq, national secretary general of the LJP.

But the LJP clarified that their differences are with the JDU and not with the BJP. “At the national level and in the Lok Sabha elections, the Lok Janshakti party shares a strong alliance with the BJP and our candidate will fight the election against the JDU in some seats,” Khaliq said.

The LJP will present candidates against Nitish Kumar’s JDU, but the party will not present its candidates against the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party.

Today’s meeting was scheduled to take place on Saturday, but was postponed after Chirag Paswan’s father, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, was hospitalized and then underwent heart surgery at a Delhi hospital.

Mr. Chirag had meanwhile shared on Twitter yesterday his “Bihar first Bihari first”, a vision document of the LJP. He said the document was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called for the people of the state to bless him to make Bihar the first and restore their pride so that “all my candidates can strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister “.

Voting for the Bihar assembly will take place in three phases on October 28, November 3 and November 7, and the counting of the votes will take place on November 10.
