Rahul Gandhi will organize the rallies in the Kurukshetra and Karnal districts of Haryana.

Chandigarh:

After the Punjab, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will travel to Haryana on October 6-7 to hold tractor rallies against recently enacted farm laws, with the opposition party holding a meeting on Sunday in connection with the event.

Mr. Gandhi will organize the rallies in the Kurukshetra and Karnal districts of the state, party leaders said.

The congressional leader, who arrived in the Punjab on Sunday for a three-day visit to lead a series of tractor rallies against the centre’s agricultural laws, will lead a tractor rally on October 6 that will enter Haryana, they said.

The Haryana unit of Congress held a meeting of MPs and senior party leaders in Delhi to take stock of preparations for Mr Gandhi’s visit to the state.

Haryana congressman Vivek Bansal, state congressman Kumari Selja, opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda and senior leaders Kiran Choudhary and Ajay Singh Yadav were also present at the meeting.

“His visit (to Rahul Gandhi) will be a milestone in the battle of the farmers. On October 6-7, Rahul Gandhi will make a two-day visit to Haryana. On the first day, his rally will enter Pehowa, Haryana. Punjab border. In Pehowa, he will address the people, ”Ms. Selja said.

“After that, Rahul Gandhi will go to Kurukshetra and stop there for the night. His journey will start the next morning from Pipli Mandi from where he will go to Nilokheri and after that he will go to Karnal, where the tractor rally will peak, ”she said.

Selja said Rahul Gandhi and other congressional leaders raised the issues of farmers, workers and ordinary people.

“Just as Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra went to Hathras on Saturday and shared the grief and pain of the Dalit family, in the same way he will come to the state to share the pain of the farmers because the government does not has no time to understand and discuss their suffering, ”she said.

Hooda said the new farm laws were not in the best interests of farmers.

“Rahul Gandhi comes to Haryana to protest against these black laws,” said the former chief minister.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Sunday: “We have not received any information regarding his (Rahul’s) program so far.”

The remarks come after Haryana’s Home Secretary Anil Vij earlier said the congressional leader’s tractor rally would not be allowed into the state.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an event in Karnal, the CM hailed the three agricultural laws as a “game changer”.

“Farmers will benefit enormously from this,” he said.

Accusing Congress of misleading farmers about the laws, Khattar said purchases of paddy and other crops at the minimum support price (MSP) were going smoothly across the state.

“Regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act and Section 370 Revocation and many other matters, Congress grew tired of misleading the people. But people soon realized that these measures were taken for their greater benefit by keeping the interests of the country first and foremost, farmers began to realize that Congress is trying to use their shoulder to promote their own interests, ”he said.

Speaking to Sirsa, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said: “Rahul Gandhi does not understand the basics of agriculture and now he wants to organize protests on these three laws.”

“If reporters confront him and ask him questions about the three laws, he won’t be able to talk about their benefits or their losses. So Congress is only playing politics on the matter and nothing else.

“It was during the Congress-led UPA regime that a five-member committee of chief ministers reported on open market access. Now they oppose the reforms brought by the Center, ”said Chautala.

He added that central and state governments have taken many “historic decisions” in the interests of farmers and that the work to double farmers’ incomes is in earnest.
