Karnataka will set a uniform rate structure for the treatment of coronaviruses, said a Minister (Representative)

Bengaluru:

Karnataka’s Minister of Medical Education, K Sudhakar, said Monday that private hospitals will be roped up to treat COVID-19 patients in the state and that prices will be set for everything, including tests and treatments.

“… the private hospitals that will treat patients with COVID-19 … for them, the rates will be fixed, they will be uniform across the state. There may be variations for Bengaluru, but for everything the state, a uniform rate structure will be set, “said Sudhakar.

Speaking to reporters, he said that private nursing homes and corporate hospitals, especially those with large beds, will need to set up isolation services and show up to treat patients with coronavirus in the coming days.

“Efforts are underway in this direction and instructions will be given in this regard by the government. The government alone cannot provide treatment. Both the private and public sectors will have to join forces and make efforts to control the coronavirus, “he added.

K Sudhakar was speaking after attending the meeting of senior ministers and senior officials, chaired by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, to discuss the increase in COVID-19 cases in the state and in Bangalore.

Stressing that rates will be set for everything from tests to treatment, he said the government would not allow anyone to “extort” during this time of crisis and would take “ruthless measures” against them.

“At today’s meeting, it was decided that private hospitals should also provide treatment. We will therefore discuss with the central government and the CIRM, we will see what rates will be set, also with regard to “Obtaining grants for this under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka program, because private hospitals will not treat the poor for free and the government will have to pay for it,” he added.

“Our health is in our hands. If we don’t protect our health, can the government monitor every individual?” he asked in response to a question about the impact of non-compliance with guidelines and compliance with standards of social distancing.

K Sudhakar also asked the media to exercise restraint when broadcasting information about the coronavirus and to see that it does not give rise to fears of propaganda among people.
