Eight police were shot dead last week in a village near Kanpur by thugs by gangster Vikas Dubey.

Mumbai:

The Shiv Sena said Monday that the meeting in Kanpur in which eight police officers were killed exposed the meeting specialist of the government of Uttar Pradesh and raised questions about the assertions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the end of Goondaism in the State.

Noting that Uttar Pradesh is often called “Uttam Pradesh”, an editorial by Shiv Sena spokesman “Saamana” said that “Uttam Pradesh” is now drenched in the blood of the police, which is a shock to the country.

Eight police officers, including an assistant police superintendent, were shot dead last week in a village near Kanpur by gangster Vikas Dubey’s henchmen.

An accomplice to the main accused Dubey has been arrested while the gangster is still on the run.

The Shiv Sena said that Dubey fled to Nepal after the incident.

India currently does not enjoy good relations with Nepal, according to the publication Marathi, hoping that Dubey will not prove to be Dawood in Nepal for India.

He was apparently referring to reports that the underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim was living in Pakistan after fleeing India.

“The Kanpur police killings exposed the meeting with the specialized government of Uttar Pradesh,” said Shiv Sena.

Kanpur episode brings back memories of gang killings of police in Utath Pradesh Nathuapur four decades ago, he said, wondering what has changed in the Adityanaths regime if staff security is killed even after 40 years (of this incident).

“Uttar Pradesh has faced shame for decades because of the moron gangs there and their crimes. Allegations have been made several times that Goondaism ended under the current minister Yogi Adityanath said, but the Kanpur police killings raised a big question mark over the claims, said the party led by Uddhav Thackeray.

During the Adityanath government’s three-year tenure in the state, more than 113 thugs were met, he said, asking how the name of Dubeys had been forgotten.

Le Sena said there were over 60 offenses against the gangster, including murder and robbery, and wondered how he could have been saved for lack of evidence.

What explanation does the Yogi government have if someone claims that the list of goons to meet is prepared at the convenience of the police and the government of Uttar Pradesh? asked the daily Marathi.

After the Kanpur meeting, the Uttar Pradesh administration razed Dubey’s residence, saying it was illegal.

Referring to this, the Sena asked, But what about the houses of the martyred police? Will the parents (cops killed during the raid) recover their sons and the children their fathers? It is regrettable that the Uttar Pradesh administration did not have “secret knowledge” of Dubeys’ residence as illegal until after the murder of the eight police officers, according to the press release.

The Shiv Sena, without specifying details, said that Goondaism in Uttar Pradesh has its effects on the national capital Delhi and the financial capital Mumbai and, therefore, the killings in Kanpur are serious business.
