Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai tested negative for the coronavirus.

Mumbai:

Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar said Sunday that actors Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai had tested negative for the coronavirus.

The mayor’s statement came a day after Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan said they had tested positive for COVID-19 and had been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.

The mayor said that the Bachchan residence is now a containment zone and that all residents have been quarantined for 14 days.

Members of the Bachchan family, including the granddaughter of the megastar Aaradhya, have passed the rapid antigen test, said Pednekar. Aaradhya was also tested negative, she added.

“I tested positive for COVID. Transferred to hospital. The hospital has informed the authorities, the family and the staff has been tested, the results are expected,” tweeted Amitabh Bachchan, 77, on Saturday.

“Everyone who has been close to me for the past 10 days is asked to be tested,” he added. He was transferred to the isolation unit at Nanavati hospital.
