India’s coronavirus count has crossed 78 lakh with a jump of 53,370 cases in the past 24 hours, according to government data. And 650 deaths in the past 24 hours brought the total death toll to 1.17,956.

The country has reported a steady decline in its daily coronavirus infections after peaking at around 90,000 cases per day in September. India, which reported its first case on January 30, is the second most affected country in the world by the pandemic after the United States.

About 61% of the total recovered cases of COVID-19 come from six states and UTs of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the Ministry of Health said on Saturday. Union health.

While Maharashtra recorded 20.6% of total recoveries, 10.9% of cases recovered were from Andhra Pradesh, 9.9% from Karnataka, 9.4% from Tamil Nadu, 6.1% from Uttar Pradesh and 4.1% of Delhi, he said.

Bengal records highest one-day leave of 3,753 Covid patients

West Bengal reported the highest one-day leave of 3,753 COVID-19 patients on Saturday, bringing the total number recovered to 3.02,340, the health department said in a bulletin.

The state’s coronavirus tally rose to 3.45,574 after 4,148 people tested positive for the disease, while 59 new deaths brought the death toll to 6,427, he said.

The number of active cases is now 36,807.

The 4,148 new cases included 896 from North 24 Parganas district, 895 from Kolkata, 229 from South 24 Parganas and 224 from Howrah, according to the bulletin.

Of the new deaths, 19 were recorded in Kolkata and 14 in Hooghly. The remaining remaining deaths have been reported in various other districts.

The bulletin said 44 of the 59 deaths were due to co-morbidities where COVID-19 was accidental.

In the past 24 hours, 44,724 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in West Bengal, bringing the total number of such tests to 42.55,801, the bulletin added.

Delhi records 4,116 COVID-19 cases, highest one-day peak in 35 days
