On Wednesday, the Ministry of Railways informed that more than 3,500 Shramik special trains originated from Indian railways carrying more than 48 lakh of passengers to various destinations.
Almost 80% of the total Shramik trains are destined for various destinations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
“Most of the destinations in the United States are around Lucknow and Gorakhpur and in Bihar around Patna. The convergence of trains to these destinations has caused some congestion in a particular section of the network,” the department said in a statement. tweet.
Trains from Maharashtra and Gujarat to UP and Bihar mainly use routes from Khandwa-Itarsi-Jabalpur-Manikpur- Prayagraj, Ratlam-Mathura-Palwal-Ghaziabad- Moradabad-Lucknow, Ratlam- Kota-Bayana-Agra- Kanpur and Ratlam -Nagda-Bhopal-Jhansi-Kanpur.
Indian railways launched special Shramik trains from May 1 amid the closure to send migrant workers home.
Since May 12, fifteen pairs of special trains have also been operated for travelers in general from different cities in the country. The railways plan to run 100 pairs of special trains starting June 1.
The lockout was extended in the fourth phase until May 31.
