India has passed 1.5 lakh new cases of coronavirus with 6,387 new infections and 170 deaths reported in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases is now 1.51,767, the number of deaths linked to the virus is 4,337 and the number of people who have recovered is 64,426, according to data from the Union’s Ministry of Health this morning.
Earlier this week, India became the tenth most affected country after four consecutive days of record daily peaks and more than 6,000 new cases reported daily since May 21.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi remain the most affected states, with Maharashtra alone reporting more than 50,000 COVID-19 infections. The increase in the number of cases occurs against a background of relaxation of lock-in flexibility and the restart of a third of all domestic flights.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced that industrial activities will now be permitted in all urban areas of the state, except in containment areas.
Under certain conditions, economic activities resumed in different parts of the country during the fourth foreclosure phase, which is scheduled to end on May 31, the ANI news agency reported.

Mumbai reported 1,044 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 32 deaths on Wednesday, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Currently, the total number of positive cases in Mumbai has reached 33,835 while the death toll stands at 1,097.
Meanwhile, in Dharavi, 18 new cases of coronavirus have appeared. Today, there are 1,639 cases in the region, including 61 deaths, reported the ANI news agency.
