NSA Ajit Doval had a telephone conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Sunday.

New Delhi:

National security adviser Ajit Doval will hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for the second time in a week on Friday to ease the tension between the two neighbors above the dividing line. real control.

The first cycle of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination or WMCC, on July 5, had triggered the disengagement which was completed on mutually agreed terms and India will now focus on dismantling the structures, restoring the ridge lines and restoring the status quo ante, sources say.

“With cautious optimism, we will move forward and review the overall progress on the ground,” a senior government official told GalacticGaming.

According to the latest reports with the central government, the initial disengagement has been completed in the regions of Galwan, Gogra and Hot Springs. Thinning is underway in the Pangong Tso Lake area.

“It was a difficult situation because we had nothing to counter the negotiations. But India defended its position and the good news is that China seems to have caved in,” said a senior official.

The thinning of Chinese soldiers is however the slowest around the fourth blocking point – the area of the fingers on the north shore of Pangong Tso in Ladakh, the glacial salt water lake extending over 700 km2, where the Chinese would have installed bunkers and post observations.

According to the government official, with no fixed border near Pangong Tso, Indian troops went as far as Finger 8 to patrol. “The patrols have been halted for the moment but will be re-established as things cool. We will physically check each of our points,” he added.

The Finger Zone – a set of eight cliffs overlooking the lake – was one of the areas where Chinese intrusions have been reported since April, greatly increasing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

In the worst clash between the two countries in nearly half a century, troops fought for hours with canes and clubs on June 15, killing both sides, including the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers.
