“Radio Prison”, operating from prison premises to provide information and entertainment to inmates, was inaugurated by the additional director general of police (prisons), KLN Rao.

“In addition to entertainment, storytelling and cultural programs, Radio Prison will provide information on legal aid, psychological counseling and training on various topics. We will also pass on birthday wishes to inmates.

Ten inmates have been chosen as radio jockeys to run the initiative, ”Mr. Rao said.

For security reasons, the broadcast will be via a connected fiber network with speakers installed in each barracks, said DV Rana, Sabarmati Jail PRO.

Like any other professional radio station, Radio Prison, which will be broadcast daily from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., will broadcast songs from movies, etc.

“The selected inmates will receive a one-month training as RJ by professionals,” added Rana.
