Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the world took a leap forward when India prospered

New Delhi:

Claiming that his government has shattered the inertia of the system to place science at the heart of its socio-economic transformation efforts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called on Indians living abroad to join Aatmanirbhar’s “dream” Bharat, declaring that the world also leaps forward when India prospers.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) summit, a global virtual summit of Indian scholars and academics abroad and residents, Prime Minister Modi said his government has taken many steps to stimulate science, research and innovation in various fields, including agriculture where the production of food grains has reached an all time high.

“Science is at the heart of our efforts for socio-economic transformations. We have broken the inertia of the system,” he said, adding that the call for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Autonomous India) includes a vision global well-being.

“Our start-up sector will benefit from your mentorship,” Prime Minister Modi said at the inauguration of the summit, which will run until October 31.

Over 3,000 academics and scientists of Indian origin from overseas from 55 countries and over 10,000 resident academics and scientists are participating in the summit.

Some 200 university institutes and science and technology departments, headed by the senior scientific adviser, are organizing the summit. Highlighting India’s scientific contributions, Prime Minister Modi said its rich history needs to be amplified and lamented that many young people have been fed the “lie” that everything before the modern era was “superstition and ‘dark age’.

He said that it is the Indian innovation of zero that is the basis of computers, programming, mobiles and applications.

“Inspired by our glorious past and fueled by our achievements in the present, India looks to the future with great hope and we aim to build a secure and prosperous future for generations to come,” Prime Minister Modi said .

The need of the hour is to make sure that more young people develop an interest in science and for this people need to familiarize themselves with “the science of history and the history of science”, he said. -he adds.
