Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, said the recent ban on 59 mobile apps, including Tik Tok, UC Browser and other Chinese apps, is one “great opportunity” for Indians to create their own apps.
“In the wake of the ban we imposed … I think this is a great opportunity. Can we find good apps made by Indians? Let’s leave the dependence on foreign apps, with their own program for various reasons, stop, “said Ravi Shankar Prasad.
The Ministry of Information Technology had previously said in a statement that it had been decided to block 59 applications, given the information available, “that they are engaged in activities detrimental to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the defense of India, the security of the state and public order. ”
