European Union deplores China’s security law for Hong Kong (representation)

Brussels:

The European Union said on Tuesday that it regrets China’s adoption of a security law for Hong Kong which it believes will undermine its autonomy and undermine the judiciary.

“We deplore this decision,” said President of the European Council Charles Michel at a press conference.

“This law risks seriously compromising Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy and having a detrimental effect on the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law,” said Michel in repeated comments by the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
