Donald Trump called for the reopening of schools and universities for the next semester.

Washington, United States:

President Donald Trump went wild at Harvard University on Tuesday, calling his decision to move all of his online courses to the fall because of the coronavirus pandemic ridiculous.

“I think it’s ridiculous. I think it’s an easy way out. And I think they should be ashamed of themselves,” Trump said at a White House panel discussion. during which he called for the reopening of schools and universities for the next semester.

Trump, who is campaigning for re-election in November, has taken a bullish approach to reopening the country even as viral infections continue to rise, particularly in the south and west.

“Everyone wants it. Moms want it. Dads want it. Kids want it. It’s time to do it,” he said.

“We want to open our schools, we want to open them quickly, beautifully, in the fall.”

His administration said on Monday that it would not allow foreign students to stay in the country if all their classes were moved online due to the COVID-19 crisis.

A number of schools are considering a hybrid model of face-to-face and online instruction, but some, including Harvard, have said that all classes will take place online.

The prestigious university, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, said that 40% of undergraduates would be allowed to return to campus – but their education would be provided remotely.

With more than 130,000 deaths from the new coronavirus, the United States is the country hardest hit by the global pandemic.
