Donald Trump has repeatedly made unsubstantiated allegations of election fraud.

Donald Trump, refusing to concede defeat in the US presidential election, said on Saturday that Joe Biden “was rushing to pass himself off as the mistaken winner” after television channels declared the Democrat’s victory.

“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to pose as the winner and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: They don’t want the truth to come out,” Trump said.

“The point is, this election is far from over.”

Trump pointed out that states have yet to certify the results, and his campaign has launched multiple “legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate winner.”

However, the almost full results released by each state showed an insurmountable lead for Biden, allowing news networks to call out the overall result, as they do in every election.

With networks calling Pennsylvania, then Nevada, to Biden on Saturday, he is now expected to win at least 279 electoral votes, exceeding the magic number of 270 needed to win in the U.S. electoral college system that officially chooses the president.

Trump claimed that in Pennsylvania, Republican poll watchers were not allowed “meaningful access to watch the counting process.”

“Only a party engaged in wrongdoing would illegally keep observers out of the counting room – then fight in court to block their access,” Trump added.

The president’s provocative statement landed as he arrived at a golf course he owns in Virginia, on his first trip outside the White House since polling day Tuesday.

His lawyer Rudy Giuliani was in Philadelphia on Saturday, where he said Trump would continue to push for such complaints – especially on key Pennsylvania battlefields – to be dealt with in U.S. courts.

“Obviously he won’t concede when at least 600,000 ballots are involved,” Giuliani told reporters.

When asked about specific evidence of fraudulent ballots, Giuliani did not provide any. “How can I tell you there is fraud or no fraud?” he said, although he has repeatedly pointed out that observers were denied sufficient access to observe the count in Philadelphia.

“They took our inspectors away.”

No evidence of electoral malfeasance has emerged, although complaints have been lodged in several states, in particular for insufficient access to observation of the vote count.

Several Congressional Republicans have strongly supported the president, including Senator Lindsey Graham who insisted that “credible allegations of voting irregularities and misconduct” be taken seriously and investigated, not “swept under the carpet” .

“Election results are not determined by the media but a certified and accurate vote count,” he said, adding that “officials in Pennsylvania should take the allegations … seriously before certifying a result. final”.

Biden is due to address the nation at 8:00 p.m. Saturday (01:00 GMT).
