Ahmedabad:

Gujarat’s chief minister, Vijay Rupani, said on Monday that his government had no plans to re-impose the lockdown in the state.

Rejecting speculation on social media platforms regarding the foreclosure, the chief minister urged people not to get carried away by such “unfounded rumors”.

Since June 1, restrictions have been relaxed in the state, after which industries, offices, stores, bus and rickshaw services have resumed in non-containment areas.

“After the June 1 release, daily life gradually becomes normal. Commercial and trade-related activities have also resumed in the state. In such a scenario, the state government does not intend to re-impose the foreclosure, “said Rupani said in a statement.

He said that while the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic was underway, people were also learning to live with it. Rupani’s statement came after rumors on social media that his government may again impose restrictions because COVID-19 cases are not declining in the state.

Since the last month, on average 400 new cases of coronavirus appear every day in the state.

As of Sunday, Gujarat has reported 23,590 cases of COVID-19 and 1,478 deaths from viral infection.
