Jaipur:

Congress on Sunday called for the resignation of Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for his alleged participation in a conspiracy to overthrow the government of Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan.

Party leader and former Union minister Ajay Maken said the Rajasthan police anti-corruption bureau had recorded a case concerning the audio recordings of an alleged conversation between Congressman Bhanwarlal Sharma, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and a Sanjay Jain.

“If Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat claims that it is not his voice and that the reference in the audio clip is that of another Gajendra Singh, then why is he afraid to give samples of voice?” Asked Mr. Maken.

He said that Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had no moral authority to continue as Minister of the Union and should resign so that the investigation is not influenced.

Ajay Maken also alleged that the Haryana and Delhi police were protecting rebel congressional MPs from Rajasthan.

He said the center was threatening on behalf of CBI because he wanted to stop the investigation of the plot.
