Searching party chairman Lok Janshakti (LJP) Chirag Paswan, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi said on Wednesday that the elder “had burned himself with his own lamp”.
“He burned himself with his own lamp (apne chirag se bhasm ho gaye hain wo),” said the former chief minister whose party won four seats on Tuesday.
Mr. Paswan’s first name translates to lamp in English.
The HAM chief went on to say, “There is a saying don’t cut the branch you are sitting on. Chirag Paswan worked to defeat the bosom he was a part of. The result is clear, the branch was cut, but he also fell. “
Mr Paswan’s LJP broke away from the NDA and contested 137 seats in Bihar, but ultimately won only one seat.
Mr. Manjhi had also left the NDA to join the Mahagathbandhan or Grand Alliance led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in August this year.
In a few days he returned.
